Mountain Modern is surprisingly minimalist for it's style. Typically when someone thinks of 'mountain cabin' their immediate thought is cluttered and outdated stained wood. The Mountain Modern design style steps away from that idea of a cabin while still allowing for a natural environment in the wilderness. Most of it's design is made of clean lines and clear counters. The intrigue comes from the many different textures created by locally sourced materials. Textures such as rough, knotted wood cabinets, mostly uncut stone tiles, or delicately cut glass. Muted tones are the color scheme for this design style, as the textures take the center stage. Wall to ceiling windows are another central focus, since the point of building a cabin in the woods is to appreciate nature. As far as the exterior goes, this style steps away from classic simple cabin shapes, but keeps the feeling of geometry. They are modern, and often flow very well with the natural landscape.
